My name is Natalie Edwards-Moss and I am a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor. I am a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and I abide by their Ethical Framework.
I strive to be an approachable, warm and accepting counsellor who can offer you a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space to talk about whatever it is that is troubling you.
I work Integratively, but underlying my theoretical approach is a belief in autonomy and the tendency towards growth and the possibility of change. These are the hallmarks of the humanistic tradition, and whilst I occasionally draw from psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural approaches, I do so from a philosophically person centered standpoint. The most important aspects are that the counselling is guided by you, the client, and that I facilitate a therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor built on mutual respect, trust and clear boundaries. I also believe that to be psychologically healthy - to be fully human - is to be in relationship with others... and that psychological dis-ease arises from relational failure: the cumulative experience of relational needs not met. (Erskine)
I offer counselling for a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, gender and identity issues, eating-disorders, self-harm, relationship problems, work stress, bereavement, bullying, domestic violence, abuse & panic attacks, to name just a few.
Usually I meet clients for an initial session where we find out a bit more about each other before starting counselling. It's important that you feel I'm the right counsellor for you and that you know what to expect.
Confidentiality is a very important element of counselling and I will discuss aspects of this with you at our initial consultation.
AS A PRACTISING COUNSELLOR I HAVE REGULAR SUPERVISION AND UNDERTAKE CPD (CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.) I ALSO HAVE A CURRENT ENHANCED DBS CERTIFICATE AND HOLD PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE.
